“You shouldn’t rent a car in Sicily! They drive like crazy over there!”
This advice is undoubtedly thrown at your head when you plan a trip to the beautiful Sicily. During my little round trip on the island I decided to rent a car. Some parts aren’t very accessible without a vehicle. Cruising through beautiful landscapes with a small Fiat for three days . How did I like that, and more importantly… How safe was it to drive in Sicily?
Renting a car in Sicily is surprisingly cheap. If you want to explore the beauty of this Italian island, I really recommend to rent a car. After all, many sights aren’t easily accessible by public transport and an excursion costs a lot of money.

Cost of car hire in Sicily
For my rental car in Sicily (two days) I paid barely €60 / $75 / £55 , of which €20 / $25 / £18 went to the all-in car insurance. Only €30 / $37,5 / £27,5 per day.
In addition, I booked my car only one day before my arrival. If you look at comparative websites such as RentCars you can see that renting a car in Sicily can be much cheaper.
